Description
First, the brand – one of the founders of the Swiss art of watchmaking, one of the few that produce their own calibers, and certainly with its own style and presentation.
The Laureato series itself follows the other "greats" and is to GP what the Master Calendar is to Jaeger-LeCoultre, the Overseas to Vacheron Constantin, and the Royal Oak to Audemars Piguet. The classic line began its life in 1975, and the name was suggested by an Italian distributor of the brand and literally means "The Graduate". The reason is rooted in the fact that many Italian families gift the model to their children graduating from school.
The model presented today began its "career" in 2016 and is part of the brand's 225th anniversary celebrations – how many active brands can boast such a history? Everything about this timepiece shows precision and attention to detail – the dial is well thought out, everything is proportional and in the right place. In this case, we are presenting the more sought-after version with a green dial, and the combination is truly impressive.
The case is a contemporary 42 mm by 49 mm, the dial is protected by a high-quality sapphire crystal with an AR coating, and the feeling is that the crystal is missing and you can touch the dial with your finger. The bracelet is steel, integrated into the case, and the clasp is a butterfly type, which further contributes to the comfort of wearing the watch.
As is well known, GP is one of the few brands that not only produces movements for its own models, but also supplies them to many renowned Swiss manufacturers. Powering all the functions of today's model is the in-house Girard-Perregaux caliber GP 03300-0030 movement – an automatic with 218 parts, 27 jewels, a 46-hour power reserve, and a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour. The precise finishing is at the brand's usual level, and all of this can be observed through the open case back.
