Today we have the pleasure of presenting to your attention another representative of the newest series that Omega launched in 2013, and the model presented today was launched in 2016. The differences compared to the earlier versions of the PO8900 are mainly in the colors used and the materials of the straps.
This watch pays tribute to Omega's diving heritage – with a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, a grey dial with a date window at the 3 o'clock position, and well-proportioned hour markers and hands. It is not only comfortable but also functionally balanced. The grey unidirectional ceramic bezel is mounted on a 43.5 mm titanium case, which has a water resistance of up to an impressive 600 meters / 2000 feet / 60 bar and features a helium escape valve.
This watch provides exceptional performance and great style both above and below the water. The massive titanium case, the graphite grey dial (which on this model is also made of titanium), the luminescent hands and markers, aimed at ensuring excellent visibility even in low-light conditions – all this allows this watch to be a true instrument in the hands of professionals.
The dial is sealed by a scratch-resistant sapphire with an anti-reflective coating and is "crowned" by a unidirectional rotating titanium bezel, again in grey, with the first quarter in orange and serrated edges for an easier grip.
Separate attention should be paid to the movement of this wonderful timepiece – the new Omega co-axial calibre 8900, operating at a frequency of 25,200 vibrations (3.5 Hz), unusual for other movements, with a power reserve of over 55 hours, 38 jewels, and 202 components. The two barrels, the brand's Nivachoc anti-shock system, and all other technical solutions enable Omega to offer a 5-year warranty for some of its watches with this movement, including this one.
The differences compared to the previous Omega co-axial movement 8500 are several, but the most significant is that it is now a Master Chronometer – it has passed the METAS certification, which sets much stricter criteria. This particular movement is the first not only from Omega, but the first mass-produced movement ever to pass this certification. You must agree, this is worthy of all of our respect.
