When the first Rolex Datejust was introduced in 1945 – the year of Rolex's 40th anniversary – it made history as the first automatic waterproof certified chronometer with a date on the dial. The "Cyclops" was added in 1955 to magnify the date display two and a half times, becoming one of the brand's most recognizable features. In 2009, Rolex introduced the Datejust II – a line that offered the features of the original model in a more contemporary and clean design. The most visible difference is the size – 41 mm, following the trend towards larger cases. The other significant change is the movement – caliber 3136, an in-house development with Paraflex anti-shock protection, a Parachrom hairspring, and COSC certification, with a power reserve of about 48 hours and a frequency of 28,800 vibrations. In 2017, the brand introduced the current evolution under reference 126300. The biggest change is the new caliber 3235 – with an increased power reserve to about 70 hours, a significantly improved automatic winding system, and an efficiency increase of about 15%. The reversing wheels are Teflon-coated to reduce friction, and the movement includes 14 patents and over 90% new components, achieving an accuracy that exceeds COSC standards. It is not for nothing that the Datejust remains the brand's most popular and recognizable model after the Submariner – and the Datejust 41 presents this popularity in a modern interpretation. This particular timepiece is in the great and relatively hard-to-find combination – a grey-silver so-called “Rhodium dial” with hour markers. The detail on this model is impressive. The dial changes its color depending on the light – from dark grey to almost silver, and the Chromalight luminescent coating (available only on the variants with markers, not with Roman or Arabic numerals) is another serious plus of this configuration. The sapphire with the "cyclops" is of the highest grade and contributes to the more elegant profile of the watch. The case and bezel are an excellent combination of brushed 904L steel and polished facets – a characteristic combination for the brand. The bezel is smooth, which gives it a cleaner and more elegant presence on the wrist. And of course – the bracelet. In this case, it is a Jubilee bracelet with a solid clasp, crafted from a single block of steel, not from bent sheet metal. Although it lacks the Glidelock system of the Submariner, the EasyLink is present here, which allows for quick micro-adjustment in a range of 5 to 20 mm. The combination of the rhodium dial and the Jubilee bracelet gives the watch an exceptionally balanced and elegant look – simultaneously classic and contemporary.
