When the first Rolex Datejust was introduced in 1945 – the year of Rolex's 40th anniversary – it made history as the first automatic water-resistant certified chronometer with a date on the dial. The "Cyclops" lens was added in 1955 to magnify the date display two and a half times, making it significantly more legible and becoming one of the brand's most recognizable features.

In 2009, Rolex introduced the Datejust II. This line offers the features of the original and iconic Datejust in a more streamlined and modern design, while also incorporating a series of innovations. One of the most significant differences is the size – 41 mm, which corresponds to the trend for larger watches. The other is the movement – caliber 3136, developed specifically for the model, with a Paraflex anti-shock system, Parachrom hairspring, COSC certification, a 48-hour power reserve, and a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour.

In 2017, the brand introduced the latest generation under reference 126300. Here, one of the most significant changes is the movement – the new caliber 3235, which offers approximately 70 hours of power reserve and a significantly improved automatic winding system, where the rotor is on a ball bearing, and efficiency is increased by about 15%. The reversing wheels are Teflon-coated to reduce friction, and the movement includes 14 patents and over 90% new components, surpassing COSC standards for accuracy.

It is no coincidence that the Datejust remains the brand's most popular and recognizable model after the Submariner – and the Datejust II (and its successor) present this classic in a contemporary interpretation. This particular watch is in a relatively rare and sought-after combination – a dark grey dial ("Dark Rhodium dial") with luminescent hour markers.

The detail on this model is impressive. The dial offers depth and a play of light, and the Chromalight luminescent coating ensures excellent visibility. The sapphire crystal with the "Cyclops" lens is of the highest grade and contributes to the lower overall height of the watch compared to previous generations.

The case and bezel are an excellent combination of brushed 904L steel and polished facets. The fluted bezel provides a characteristic look and clearly distinguishes this model from the smooth bezel variants. The combination of materials used is part of the Rolesor concept – a patented Rolex solution.

The Oyster bracelet is solid and well-crafted, with a massive clasp made from a single block of steel. The EasyLink system is present, allowing for micro-adjustment in a range of 5 to 20 mm, providing additional wearing comfort. It is precisely the combination of this dial and this bracelet that gives the watch a strong presence and a complete, elegant look.
