The series was first introduced in 2022 and immediately became much loved and sought after by Zenith enthusiasts. Its goal is to become the flagship of the Defy collection – which in turn is often called the brand's "locomotive," due to sales volumes and the fact that it is here that all innovations in movements, design, and technology are launched. The model presented today was launched one year later and, as its name suggests, is intended for sale exclusively in Zenith boutiques worldwide.
I cannot help but start with the dial, as this is the most impressive element of this timepiece – here, for the first time, the so-called "metallic dial" is used with repeating four-pointed stars from the brand's old logo. In this particular case, the color is Ice Blue – a light, metallic blue hue that changes its character depending on the light.
Another distinctive feature is the shape of the case – the base is the familiar one from the Defy series, but here the bezel is octagonal, which is a clear sign that with this line the brand is targeting the higher segment and the "big leagues." This impression is also reinforced by the bracelet – a new design, a semi-integrated construction, and a quick-change system, something seen for the first time on Zenith's steel models.
A new crown was also developed especially for this model – with a design that resembles nothing else in the brand's catalog and contributes to the modern look of the watch.
And of course – the movement. Here, the El Primero 3620 caliber is integrated for the first time – based on the El Primero 3600 introduced a year earlier, but without a chronograph function. An in-house movement, operating at 36,000 vibrations, with 35 jewels and a power reserve of about 60 hours – a combination of high frequency, precision, and modern architecture.
The watch is truly impressive and certainly has all the qualities to become a worthy part of any connoisseur's and expert's collection – especially considering how rarely such boutique editions are found in such good condition and at a reasonable price for its class.
