Description
The model was introduced in 2022 with the main purpose of marking the 70th anniversary of the British North Greenland Expedition. Furthermore, in Tudor's range, it takes the place of the simple, straightforward, and exceptionally robust steel sports watch. The new Ranger has a clear connection to the original 34mm Tudor Oyster Prince ref. 7808 – a wonderful small steel sports watch with a white dial, applied markers, and spear-shaped hands.
The model 79950 Ranger is a 39mm steel watch with a thickness of 12mm, a polished bezel, a sapphire crystal on the front, and a steel case back. The dial is matte black with minimal text, surrounded by luminescent numerals and markers in a large and very legible format. There is no date, there are three luminous hands and a screw-down crown, ensuring water resistance up to 100 meters. The reference to the 'big brother' Explorer is undeniable, making it a very good alternative at an excellent price.
Despite this connection to a legendary model, the watch clearly belongs to the brand's new identity. It is offered in several dial variations and with different types of bracelets and straps – this particular model has an Oyster bracelet and a black dial. As with most Tudor models, the Rolex influence is visible – through the use of an “Oyster” case and a “Triplock” crown, borrowed from the parent company. The fact that they have managed to achieve such a thin case – only 12mm – is truly impressive.
At the heart of the watch beats the brand's well-known automatic movement MT5402 – with 27 jewels and a 70-hour power reserve.
