The series was introduced in 2018 and immediately became much loved and sought after by fans of the brand.
The model presented today is a very special one, as it is part of the collaboration between Zenith and Fusalp and was released in 2022 to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the French ski apparel brand. The differences compared to the standard Defy are many, but we will focus on a few.
We cannot but start with the dial, as it is the most impressive thing about this watch – skeletonized, it is not only designed in the form of a distinctive star (a symbol of the brand), but in this case, it is combined with a distinctive snowflake. Its other remarkable quality is that, unlike most similar watches, this one is legible – thanks to the large, generously "illuminated" hour markers, which are attached to the contrasting color of the outer ring of the case. In addition, the outer ring is "locked" by a tricolor band in the colors of the French flag. The hands are also large, in the form of double swords, and the date is located at "6 o'clock". Overall, the dial of the Defy Classic manages to be interesting without being cluttered.
The case is the next thing that attracts attention – besides being a remake of the original Defy from the 70s of the last century, it is more than contemporary: comfortable, light, made of a modern material (in this case, black ceramic), with incredible detail and multiple planes. And the fact that it is only 10.74 mm thin not only contributes to the comfort but also shows that a no less impressive movement is hidden inside the watch.
And of course, the back of the watch – as with most modern models of the brand, this one is truly impressive. Besides allowing us to enjoy the movement (which is a work of art in itself), the entire architecture is very well thought out, proportional, and finished.
The watch is truly wonderful and we sincerely hope that it will become a worthy part of a connoisseur's and expert's collection, because such a fine example at such a reasonable price for such series would be hard to find again. The fact that it is part of a strictly limited series of only 300 pieces makes it even more interesting and attractive.
