Description
This is one of the few models that appears in the brand's official registers exactly as such – without the numerical expression of the reference number and with a double mention of "Omega" in its name.
Introduced in 2016, it is a true, thoroughbred Speedmaster for many reasons – we will focus on just a few of them:
First, of course, it is a chronograph – in order to be a true Speedmaster. The tachymetric scale – which in this case is Omega's so-called Liquidmetal, the shape of the chronograph pushers, the transparent case back – all of this clearly emphasizes its belonging to the legendary line.
Second, of course, its irresistible and inimitable style – with the shape of the hands and the layout of the dial. It is worth paying special attention to the moonphase display – to make it more realistic, Omega has used photographic images of the Moon, and thanks to this, the effect is truly impressive. Some sources claim that with a high-enough quality macro photo and suitable magnification, it is even possible to see "that" step.
Third, the movement used – not for nothing does calibre 9904 (which is based on the 9300, considered by experts to be one of Omega's best in-house movements of the last 10 years) deserve special attention. Under the name Calibre 9904 lies a high-quality automatic chronograph, operating at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations (4 Hz), with two barrels and 54 jewels, with Omega's coaxial upgrade and a Si14 silicon balance wheel. The movement is COSC certified and METAS approved, with a power reserve of over 60 hours and anti-magnetic protection up to 15,000 gauss. Co-Axial is a patented Omega technology that significantly reduces friction in the heart of the movement and provides better reliability, accuracy, and longevity. The column-wheel chronograph ensures a smooth start of the seconds hand and precise stopping and resetting.
The bracelet is very comfortable not only because of the clasp with its easy-to-use pushers, but also because of its classic Speedmaster design.
