The Rolex Explorer II "Chicchi di Mais" is a colloquial, collector's name (Italian for "corn kernels") for a very specific white-dial model of the reference 16570. Their hallmark is the tritium luminescent mass on the indices, which, over time, acquires an intense, creamy-yellow color reminiscent of corn kernels.
This U-series model dates back to 1999 and is one of those that has acquired an exceptionally even and very attractive patina. The indices have a beautiful, creamy hue, which, combined with the white dial, creates an exceptionally expressive and mesmerizing visual effect. This is precisely the kind of neo-vintage character sought by collectors today.
The watch is in very good condition. It shows typical minor signs of wear in the form of micro-scratches. The dial, hands, and sapphire crystal are in perfect condition. The case retains very good proportions, presenting a remarkably cohesive overall appearance.
The watch's contents are also worthy of special attention. This is a fully collectible set, containing the items the buyer received when purchasing a new watch in the late 1990s. Such sets are increasingly difficult to find today.
