The history of Corum owes its birth to Rene Bannwart. With his strong business skills and watchmaking experience, acquired from the most renowned watch manufacturers, he registered his trademark Corum back in 1955 together with his uncle Gaston Ries. Particularly drawn to the Latin term "quorum," which means the minimum number of people required to make informed decisions, Rene Bannwart simplified the spelling of his trademark to "Corum," thus giving it even more individuality and uniqueness. From its very inception, the brand has shown the determination to position itself at the forefront of the Swiss watchmaking industry.

The Admiral’s Cup is undoubtedly one of Corum's most important and emblematic series and is perhaps the most recognizable among all the watches produced by the brand. In its 50 years of existence, the timepieces from this line have undergone numerous variations, received all sorts of complications, and have gradually increased in size.

Today, I present to your attention a timepiece from what is, in my opinion, the most beautiful series of the Admirals.

The Admiral’s Cup is the second most important regatta in the world of sailing after the America’s Cup, and the grand prize of this competition—the Admiral's Cup—has lent its name to arguably the most significant line of Corum timepieces. In creating this watch, Corum did not plan to make a model for professional yachtsmen, but rather a vibrant and stylish timepiece—a worthy representative of the Admiral’s Cup collection.

This watch is distinguished by its comfortable and instantly recognizable 12-sided case and the "multilayered" effect of the case—which in this instance is 40 mm without the crown (an excellent proposition for those ladies who, following modern trends, prefer larger cases). The timepiece's case is crafted from solid 18-karat rose gold, and the bezel is also gold and encrusted with 66 high-quality diamonds!!!

The beautifully decorated dial, crafted from milky-white mother-of-pearl, is framed by the hour markers that have become emblematic of this Corum series, represented as nautical pennants for the numbers 1 to 12, mirroring the 12-sided bezel—in this case, the pennants are colored, which further enhances the overall combination. The date window is at "3:00 o'clock", the markers and hands are also in rose gold, and the seconds hand features the brand's famous "key" as its counterweight, while the shape of the hands is "sword" style.

The crown is screw-down, the case back is transparent and offers the opportunity to enjoy the workings of the movement—beneath what the brand calls Corum calibre CO082 lies the Soprod A10, recently integrated into many brands and models—COSC certified, with a 42-hour power reserve, 21 jewels, and an incredible feeling from its operation on your wrist. The comfortable leather strap has a white crocodile exterior—sturdy and very comfortable—the buckle is also made of solid rose gold and provides good security against unfastening and ease of use.
