When it comes to vintage watches, rare is a phrase that is maybe overused, but today we have something that is both rare and very cool! This is a lovely example of a very early Rolex Day-Date reference 1803 with the text “Amtlich Geprüft” in German and a stunning and rare bracelet! The case remains in great condition all round, as does the fluted bezel. The dial is the star of the show with several very special attributes. The lightly patinated champagne dial has unusual coffin-form hour markers with the lume underneath! The dial is signed SWISS only and has a very rare so-called double dash. In the lower half of the dial is the text “Superlativer Chronometer Amtlich Geprüft”. The German text is very rare and unusual to see and, of course, we love it. We would expect that this watch was targeted for the German speaking audience , so we think that this watch was born with a German day disc that has been replaced at service ..Could it get any cooler? Yep! The watch is fitted with a rare and beautiful yellow gold Big Logo Swiss-made bracelet, stamped ‘3 59’ that will fit a wrist size up to 18.5cm.
