The king of skeletonised watchmaking

But to truly understand this watch, one thing is unavoidable: you need context.

Once you understand the relevance of the Schaffo family and their uncompromising, artisanal approach to watchmaking we can continue with the watch.

This piece can be considered an early independent watch, created long before “independent” became a marketing term. At its core lies one of the finest movements available at the time, entirely reworked and skeletonised by hand. This was not industrial decoration, this was weeks of labour, removing material, reshaping bridges, and rebalancing the movement until mechanical integrity and visual harmony aligned.

What you see on the wrist is pure horological art.
The movement was skeletonised by Kurt Schaffo himself and further hand-decorated by Christophe Schaffo. Every angle, bevel, and curve.

And it doesn’t stop there.

The case is equally special: crafted in solid 18k yellow gold by Gilbert Dubois, working from his small atelier. No mass production, just traditional case-making at the highest level.

So there you have it: an early independent creation.
Weeks of handwork. One of the finest base calibres ever made. All housed in an 18k gold case. And truly unique. There is only one example exactly like this.

This watch is preserved in excellent condition. The movement still performs exactly as Schaffo intended, and the beautifully proportioned case by Gilbert Dubois retains all of its original details.
