Original Rolex Oyster Perpetual Explorer 14270 Black Dial from 1999. First introduced in 1953, the Rolex Explorer is one of the most iconic models in the Rolex collection. Known for its simple yet rugged design, the 3-6-9 dial makes this watch an ideal companion for adventurers and professionals alike. Whether scaling Mount Everest or attending a business meeting, the Explorer is versatile and reliable.
The dial features the signature “Rolex Oyster Perpetual Explorer Superlative Chronometer Officially Certified” text, along with the Swiss Only marking, indicating the use of Luminova in the original 18K white gold hands and hour markers. This Rolex Explorer 14270 is powered by the Rolex 3000 automatic movement and protected by a durable sapphire crystal.
What makes this model particularly special is the Swiss Only dial, which was produced only in 1998 and 1999 during the transition from Tritium to Luminova. As a result, these Swiss Only dials are highly sought after by collectors.
This watch comes with its original Rolex papers and hangtags, which were issued upon purchase at Bucherer in Switzerland. Notably, in August 2023, Rolex acquired Bucherer to strengthen their longstanding partnership.
