Description
The Rolex Submariner is probably the most well-known diver’s watch in the world. Its introduction date’s back to 1953. The Submariner has evolved throughout its existence and when looking at the modern models you definitely can see the design resemblances with its predecessors. The evolution of the submariner 5513 is particularly interesting in itself already, a lot of updates were performed in its 26-year production run. Rolex released the Submariner ref. 5513 in the early 1960s and manufactured it until 1989, which makes it one of the longest Rolex references in continuous production. In 1984 it got it’s latest overhaul, the dial become a glossy dial instead of the earlier matte dials and the lume surroundings were white gold instead of none existant in the earlier versions. This Rolex Submariner dates back to 1987. Vintage is all about details, about little flaws. Depending on who you ask, a manufacturing defect or happy accident resulted in those first modern glossy dials “spidering,” like the example we have here. While remaining glossy, the dial surface on these Submariners is actually slightly cracked on the very top level of lacquer. This creates an amazing texture and mimics the look of a spider web. Viewing the watch from straight on, the cracking can sort of hide but upon rotating the watch and letting it play in the light, the spidering shines through. Next to the amazing dial on this watch you will also find the key essentials on a 5513, the super sturdy caliber 1520 movement, the Rolex Oyster Bracelet reference 93150 with 580 endlinks and ofcourse the rotating bezel.The combination of these elements give the watch the ultimate look. It has also been serviced by our watchmaker for correct accuracy and correct functioning.

- Visible signs of wear such as scratches, small dents, or light bracelet stretch. May have been professionally polished. Fully functional mechanically.
- Fair
- Clearly visible signs of wear, including scratches, dents, or noticeable bracelet or clasp wear. Servicing may be recommended in the future. Fully functional unless otherwise stated.
