The Explorer 2 has always been one of those under-the-radar watches that collectors haven’t always paid attention to. All that has changed, with examples with the so-called Polar dials becoming quite sought after! The case with lug holes is strong with thick, even lugs, and the brushed steel bezel is still in great condition.The glossy dial is perfect, with the Swiss-made signature at the bottom edge. The black text, hour marker surrounds, and hands are a great look and really pop off the dial. The 78970A Oyster bracelet is in very good condition, with a clasp stamped ‘DT 8’ and solid end links. The watch comes with its inner Rolex box, hangtag with serial, booklets, and paper holder. Also included is the original punched guarantee paper stating a sale in 2003.
