From the late 50's / early 60's this fantastic Buren automatic with mircro rotor 1005, first movement family with micro rotor, recently serviced by watchmaker...


Case:
o Gold plated and back in stainless steel with marks and scratches all over, ref. 775701 and serial 787556
o Fine condition with strong geometry
o 34mm without crown / 41mm lug to lug / 9mm tickness / 18mm lug width
o New generic plexiglass
o Generic crown

Movement:
o Mechanical automatic Buren cal. 1005 (25 jewels) - serviced by watchmaker on December 2022
(movement was disassembled, washed, lubricated)


Dial & Hands:
o Untouched with dots/signs of aging

Bracelet Material:
o New 18mm brown leather with generic golden buckle

Conclusion / Condition:
Great vintage piece with a relevant back story about micro rotor movement between Universal Geneve:
Buren patented the first micro-rotor automatic watch movement (the Intra-matic) in 1954. They subsequently licensed the technology to companies such as Bulova and Hamilton. Universal Geneve applied for their patent in May of 1955. The microrotor movement in the Polerouter series was nearly identical in design specification to the Buren Intramatic. Buren won a patent infringement case, and U.G. had to pay Buren royalties for each microrotor it used until their patent was granted. During that early period, UG was apparently required to label their movements as "patent pending", and, as a result of the dispute, were not able to record the actual patent until May 15, 1958.
