At the heart of this Omega Constellation C-Shape is Omega’s celebrated caliber 564, part of the revered 500-series automatic movements. Known for its reliability, precision, and smooth operation, the Cal. 564 features a quick-set date mechanism—an innovation that made daily use far more convenient. As a certified chronometer, this movement speaks to Omega’s legacy of technical refinement, meeting the highest benchmarks in Swiss mechanical accuracy during the golden age of in-house calibers.
The dial
The rare grey linen dial brings a distinct character to this Constellation. Its textured surface adds depth and dimensionality, catching light in subtle and dynamic ways. Slim applied baton hour markers and matching hands maintain the model’s elegant design language while ensuring strong legibility. The framed date window at 3 o’clock integrates seamlessly, and the applied Omega logo, “Constellation” text, and signature star at 6 o’clock root this piece in one of Omega’s most prestigious lines.
The case and bracelet
The 34mm stainless steel case exemplifies the C-Shape silhouette designed by Gérald Genta—a bold, fluid form that marked a stylistic shift for the Constellation line in the late 1960s and early 1970s. The case’s broad lugs and integrated design emphasize balance and proportion on the wrist. This example is fitted with the original Omega “brick” bracelet, marked 1040 with 518 end links, a sought-after design known for its comfort and solid construction. The case back features the iconic observatory medallion, Omega’s emblem of precision rooted in its chronometry heritage.
This 1971 Omega Constellation C-Shape Reference 168.017 is a quiet standout—subtle yet visually striking, thanks to the interplay of the grey linen dial and sculptural case. Its certified chronometer movement, timeless styling, and excellent condition make it a particularly desirable example for collectors and vintage enthusiasts alike.
What we love:
