The Calatrava ref. 2450 was made from 1948 to 1952 and is one of the largest vintage Patek Calatrava models in regular production. The 35mm case was made by Emile Vichet for Patek Philippe and features a mono-bloc case with a snap-back. This example is from the first series of the reference and is equipped with the caliber 12-120. The second series featured the caliber 12-400. And of course, the black enamel “Patek Philippe” signature adds the final touch of class, perfectly complementing the overall aesthetic. It’s amazing how something as subtle as the font can really elevate the watch, giving it a refined yet timeless look. There is also a nice small second at the lower half of the dial with, as Patek calls it, “raised hour markers.” The watch comes on its original Patek leather strap, complete with an original 18k gold Patek pin buckle. It is accompanied by an Extract from the Archives, confirming its date of manufacture as 1948 and its sale in 1949. Additionally, there’s a fine little original Patek leather travel box for this beautiful Calatrava, as well as the invoice from its 2023 service at Patek Philippe Geneva, and the watch is still under warranty.
