They combine a simple, minimalist, almost Germanic dial design with an integrated bracelet and a case taken from the Geneve Dynamic. While the Geneve Dynamic is a watch that is not particularly popular with collectors, these Chronostop models take the case and turn it into something completely different and special. That may not sound like the most compelling recipe, but this watch is far more than the sum of its parts, resulting in a sporty yet remarkably elegant overall look. The name “Pentatlon” comes from a sticker on the case back of many of these watches, which features the Olympic cross and the words “Omega Chronostop Pentatlon.” Pentatlon is the Italian word for pentathlon, a sport consisting of five disciplines, all of which require short time measurements and are therefore ideal for the Chronostop design.
